myBuddies Report Card 2005:

Some of our significant accomplishments at myBuddies for the past ONE year:

1) The launch of myBuddies Radio and its first radio show - The 422 Show, hosted by our DJ Ah Jing and Gut Gut (now we have 3rd DJ Brian).  The 422 show has received great compliments from listeners from around the world including major newspapers in Malaysia - Sin Chew Jit Poh.

2) Our "Proud to Be Malaysian" project was a GREAT SUCCESS!!!!  A celebration of our nation's 48th birthday with Malaysians from around the world!!! Do check out our project post and project website - you will see our Merdeka's day poster, radio show, postcard, articles, etc!!!   Our project was recognized and mentioned by major newspapers medias - The Sun, Nanyang Siang Pao, and the Global Malaysian Network (GMN).  Click HERE to read more! 

3) Our membership hits the 1000s last December and is continue to grow each day!!!  Our daily readership (Malaysians from around the world) has increased tremendously too!

4) Our community's donation drive to help burned victim baby Jin Ren was a success!  We had successfully collected RM745.56 for Jin Ren's family.

Again, thanks everyone for your continous support to our community!!  May we continue to help, share and make a difference!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA ----- Malaysians around the world are gathering at myBuddies.net, a community web site for overseas Malaysians, to celebrate the nation's 48tth birthday and participate in a "Proud To Be Malaysians" project.

Participants post messages and Merdeka Day memories for a "Proud To Be Malaysians" poster which will be distributed for display at Malaysian establishments in and outside Malaysia.  They include private & public organizations, institutions, restaurants, news media and individuals.

A radio show produced by myBuddies Radio will discuss Merdeka Day topics, broadcast interviews, messages and well wishes sent in from community members and other successful Malaysians living away from home.

"This project is aimed at gathering Malaysians wherever they may be to celebrate Merdeka Day, and to introduce the uniqueness of Malaysians to the world," says Raymond See, the founder of myBuddies.net.   "Malaysians have many good things to be proud of - a young developing country who has reached many milestones, our rich culture, various races living in harmony, friendly people, fascinating and beautiful places, and much more." says See. "Yes, every country has its share of problems.  As Malaysians, we should be a part of the solution, be the ones who are willing to be responsible individually and proud to unite as a nation to improve our country in all aspects."

myBuddies.net was formed in April 2003 as an online meeting place for overseas Malaysians to chat, share their experiences, help one other and bring Malaysians living apart closer.  Its membership now stands at over 800 registered users who have posted more than 20,000 articles.  myBuddies Radio which was launched on the web site's second anniversary in 2005 has broadcasted seven two-hour shows online.

Dear Malaysians around the world,

On August 31, 2005, our country will be celebrating her 48th birthday - Merdeka's Day!  Hence, myBuddies is launching a special project called "Proud To Be Malaysian" to gather Malaysians from around the world to celebrate this  grand event of our nation.   

Goals:

The goals of this project are as follow:

1. Gather Malaysians around the world to celebrate our nation's 48th birthday! Our nation's proud!
2. Introduce the uniqueness of Malaysians to the world.
3. Unite fellow Malaysians to build a better Malaysia

Project Products:

1) A "Proud To Be Malaysian" poster will be developed by our graphic designer ashk1n.  She will help incorporating all of our Merdeka's Day messages into one big poster.  This poster will then be distributed (via softcopies or hard-copies) to various Malaysian entities around the world -  Malaysian groups, organizations, institutions, restaurants, individuals, and news/medias in Malaysia and overseas.

2) A "Proud To Be Malaysian" radio show will be produced by our beloved radio DJ Ah Jing.  There will be different interesting Merdeka's Day topics of discussions;  interviews and Merdeka's day messages/wishes from members and other successful Malaysians from around the world
